Garage Door Paint Job

by Mary

Project Description add commentupload similar

Needed a cheap and quick fix to our garage door's peeling paint for a party.  The goal was that it was presentable for a party and since the door is old, it's a temporary fix until we get a new door.  Sanded, scraped and used chemicals to get the paint off, though we couldn't get it all off.  Wood showed signs of breaking down.  Applied tape around windows and old towels on ground.  Applied 2 coats of primer (letting it dry an hour between coats) and 2 coats of paint.  We put primer on top of painted areas that had been sanded down, since we really wanted the door to look good from the street and didn't have time to get all the paint off.
